This is a test

I’ve realized I need a creative outlet.

My job will always been an important part of my life, but the 9-5 doesn’t define me.

I recently started reading Show Your Work! by Austin Kleon. One of the more insightful takeaways, for me, was the commentary on how social media sites are fickle.

It’s something I’ve noticed more and more as the modern internet begins to grow and mature. In the past 10-15 years that I’ve been a social media user, sites evolve, and not always for the better (Hello Twitter?) I enjoy sharing my thoughts and my life. I don’t enjoy how every social media platform decays. People leave. Advertisement takes over.

I used to love Instagram to share my photography. Now it’s a shopping platform.

I’ve owned my first-name last-name .com for several years now. As I was reading Show Your Work! the idea of using a platform I already have really resonated with me.

This may or may not be the final form of my creative outlet. I’m willing to take the chance and see how this all goes.

This is a test — and it’s also the beginning.

Adventure of the Day

I took these photos in the spring of 2023 at DesertX in the Coachella Valley. This work is called Hylozoic/Desires.

The day I went was moody and brooding — a magical time in the desert. I’m quite fond of the images I was able to capture.
